Karen says…pond, tournament, mix & match, community play, drills

Because of work on the pond that supplies the water to our courts, part of the parking lot will be cordoned off 8/29. Please respect the yellow construction tape that will be in place and park around it so that the machines have room to navigate – members might have to park across the street for a few days until the work is finished.

Unfortunately, this also means that we are unable to water the courts until Tuesday, so they will be bone dry for the next few days. We apologize for this. Apparently, there was no way to get around it. Please take extra care while playing – the courts get slippery when dry.

The Fall Open Tournament registration forms are on the desk – players must be available to play both weekends (Sept 9-17) , with a bit more flexibility given to the women’s draws as they are traditionally much smaller. If you have a time caveat – please ask me about it or put it on the registration form and we will let you know if it is do-able. Forms can also be found on our website. The deadline is Wednesday noon, September 6th.

Mix and Match has had a great season and will continue for three more Thursdays – the last night will be Thursday, September 14th.

Open free community play will not start this year until October 1st. Usually it is right after the end of the tournament but it will be later this year due to crowded courts. If anyone asks you, you can let them know.

Morning 9:30-10:30 Drills will continue until mid September.

News from Karen

The WTC Fall Open Tournament starts Sept 9th – 17th. This is a much bigger tournament than the club tourney, so you do have to be available both weekends, although traditionally Steve and I have more flexibility with the women’s draw – up to a point – and depending on the size of the draw. Forms may be downloaded from our forms page.

If you have any questions, ask Karen. 99{c25c770e146dc7b524f251020f465433e32d7b5246c44edfd36aeb31b4467c50} of the matches will start at noon on the weekends as to not disrupt Member weekend morning play, except for the Finals on Sept 17th which will coincide with a Club Party.

Junior Camp will end on August 18th.

It’s that time again, almost!!!!!! Our Annual Breast Cancer Options Fundraiser will take place on Tuesday August 8th, 5:30 PM. You must sign up to attend both the drills and dinner.   Questions: Alice Goodman 845-304-2191, alicegoodman07@gmail.com or Patricia Mitchell 845-430-4141 (call or text).

I’ve had a few complaints lately about noisy dogs distracting players. While we don’t enforce a strict no dog policy, I think that common sense is the best policy.  Continue reading 7/19 Court News from Karen (Woodstock Open is coming!)
